Hey, what are you doing on this old one?

Good bye wordpress.com, hello wp.org! Thank you for supporting us with our next step of our journey.

And we’re on even more social networks now. It’s up to you to click here! See you there!

We are not Uroboros Connect or Uruboros Connect. Find us on your favorite social networks by going to the above links.

Working on New Website

Working on websites can be such a pain… I’m currently getting a more professional website for ouroboros[connect] all set-up and ready. Special thanks to my host over at Vnovel.com! It’s likely that the blog portion of this site will have to move over there, too…which also means I’ll probably blank out all of my pages and make them lead over to the new site. It’s a little messy, but that’s okay.

If you have a Tumblr, you can now follow my personal Tumblr. Warning, though, it’s bound to get pretty silly. In my next post, I’ll include a link to the new site. Also, progress on Skylines has been coming along slowly for the reasons that I mentioned in the last post.

See, the problem with being in three writing-intensive courses is that it makes it hard for me to find time to sit down and work, and when I finally do, all of my writing energy’s been sapped away. Since I’m lacking in free time, I’m going to take time to create a new outline for Skylines. Luckily, I was only about 17.5k words into it when I had to put it on the back burner for a collab VN I’ve since stepped down from (took up my time in February), Tell Her a Story (took up my time in March), finishing up In This Dream of Ours (took up my time in April), and all of the work I’ve been having to do for school (taking up my time now).

Mid-June is a few more weeks away. I’ll be able to work on Skylines with a clearer head once this school year is done with. I’m just going to work on outlining the new overhauled plot lines. I don’t want to rush into anything with this game. This one’s going to have way more choices and developed routes than my last two visual novels. Players’ choices will influence later choices in the game, meaning if you choose certain personality traits for the main character, you will get choices that are more in tune with that personality.

Dialogue and thought patterns will also be influenced by the choices that are made. The main character starts off with a “base personality” that has room to be changed through those choices. Writing Skylines has been a lot of fun for that reason. All of the hard work will pay off when it’s released. I’m expecting to make a big splash with this one. Stay tuned.

Let’s Give that Mystery a Name

It’s been nearly two weeks since I realized In This Dream of Ours. It only received one comment, but I guess that’s alright. When it comes to the download count, it’s more than doubled my last visual novel. That’s an achievement for me, so I’m glad that there are lots of people out there who have at least given it a chance. I’ve decided to just be happy seeing the count rise. Hopefully, the people that have downloaded the game like it.

So, now that ITDoO has been released, I can finally make a soft announcement about the mystery project I’ve been working on. What, you thought I was going to do a major announcement? Sorry, that’s not going to happen for a while, mostly due to me deciding to restructure the whole thing. The original plan had four endings for the visual novel and a much shorter story. Now, I’m expanding the story. I’m making the whole thing bigger and better. I’m even seriously contemplating a BxB route, but in a realistic way rather than relying on cliche yaoi stereotypes.

The visual novel is called Skylines (for now), a title inspired by one of the more philosophical moments in the visual novel. It’s set in an American high school, but doesn’t rely on that setting as a backdrop excuse for pursuing random relationships with the characters. There’s more to this visual novel than that. It’s something that’s very much character and story-driven. It will explore issues that haven’t been touched on in the visual novel scene. Since this is just a soft announcement, there’s not much that I can go into about it. The major announcement will be better…with actual pictures, even!

I’m going to work on getting a fancier website soon, so people will have something easier to link to than kaleidofish.wordpress.com. Thanks for checking in!

In This Dream of Ours Completed!

I just released In This Dream of Ours. Click the link to get to the downloads. Proper blog post about this to come. It’s exhilarating. I can’t wait to read people’s reactions to it. It’s a story that’s been close to my heart for a long time. I’ll put up a page for it on my website later on.

Ooh, two releases in 2012. I’m on a roll. Short post is short.

The Finishing Touches

My next entry will be about the release of In This Dream of Ours. Right now, I’m putting on the finishing touches. As much as I would love staying up the rest of the night to get it done, I think I need to sleep for a few hours, then release it in the morning if I’m lucky enough to wake up before 10. It’s crazy that it’s finally happening…the characters that I’ve known and loved for years will be shown to the world.

Thank you to Kaiyume and emeraldgreen for taking the time to proofread it. A very special thanks has to go to thestral31. You already know why – I tell you why every day. I just can’t believe that it’ll be time for ITDoO to be released. I seriously can’t believe it…

It Finally Hit Me

The title for the Mystery Project…it finally hit me while I was in class today. I can’t reveal what it is, but the title will tie into a scene that suddenly appeared in my mind. Well, I actually have two ideas for a title now. It’s crazy because I’ve been stuck on its “working title” since the beginning of the year. I didn’t know what to call it for ages and now, I think I have the title.

Hopefully, it won’t take as long as that to come up with the titles for the other visual novel projects I’m working on. Yesterday, I outlined everything for In This Dream of Our’s B#1 feature. It seems like it’s going to need two art assets itself. After it’s done, I’m going to hunt down for a new font and do the other polishing that still needs to be done. Soon after that, it’ll be release time.

Just wanted to share the good (yet super ambiguous) news. 😀

B#5 Completed!

About a week ago, I reached the conclusion that In This Dream of Ours won’t be actively marketed anywhere outside of LSF. The main reason for that being its low production quality. As much of a labor of love ITDoO is, I know that it won’t capture most people’s attention since it’s not fancy enough. I’ve learned a lot since starting it, but I want to release it in its most basic form – the way it is now. I don’t mind.

This isn’t to say that I don’t completely stand by In This Dream of Ours. I said that it’s a labor of a love for a reason.

I can pretty much guarantee that I’m stepping up my production values for my next games. I’ve teamed up with some amazing artists, seriously – I can’t thank them enough. Once ITDoO is released, I’ll be able to announce my Mystery Project, another revival of an idea that I had years ago. This revival, however, is being rewritten from scratch.

I’m no longer part of LemmaTV. I’ve now migrated over to the Theatre of Visions collaborative project. We’re looking for anyone who would be interested in helping out with anything, from writing, art, proofreading, beta testing, composing, etcetera. Anything at all! It’s going to be a fun ride. Contribute however much as you want, no pressure.

Now, for the stats. I was able to finish writing B#5 yesterday. It took me way too long to finish it, because of school, work, and other commitments. I’m going to use this week to write and finish B#1 the best that I can. It’s going to be tough for me to finish it – mentally and emotionally as well as timewise, because once it’s done, ITDoO will be ready for release. Well, after some last minute polishing, that is.

Progress is being made on Projects AXZ and FT. They’ll get their own posts eventually, too. I don’t want to say too much about either one of them yet. Anyway, here’s a small chart. I’m only going to put the ITDoO information down this time. I’m going to start writing B#1 tomorrow, since I’ve got a lot of work to do today.

In This Dream of Ours:
B#1 – still needs to be written; B#4 – writing finished, needs 2 art assets; B#5 – WRITING COMPLETE, needs 1 art asset.

Brick Walls

The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough. They’re there to stop the other people.”

― Randy Pausch, The Last Lecture

I hate it when a week goes by without me making a tremendous amount of progress on any of my projects. I had a tremendous amount of work to do for school this week, which meant I couldn’t get in touch with any of the people that I’m working with. I seriously can’t wait until the summer when I have a few months to throw myself into visual novel work and other relaxation stuff.

You know, it’s funny how much fun this is for me. Working on visual novels is my way to relax. It’s hard work, but it’s fun work, because of how much it pays off for me. I can’t explain it. I guess it’s a love of creation. I love the whole process, even the frustrating parts. Anyway…due to this huge amount of work I’ve only had time to work on the B#5 part of In This Dream of Ours. Only a little bit, though…

Speaking of In This Dream of Ours, have you taken the time to look at the Bonus Art page? There are four pieces of art there – two of Kouji, one of Hitomi, and one of Yasahiro. None of Tadashi – for now. Would you like to draw someone from In This Dream of Ours? Fan art is always welcome! It’s a good motivator.

Thanks, talk to you all later.
